Abstract:

Computer assisted language learning provides more autonomous forms of learning by reducing reliance upon teachers and class attendances. The present study is focused on how Iranian EFL learners strengthened their autonomy while learning vocabulary by taking a vocabulary course. In addition to participation in class, the participants planned, and performed self-directed activities by the use of vocabulary-related websites. An autonomy questionnaire was used for collecting data before and after taking thecourse. The t-test showed that there is a significant difference between the scores of the two groups with t = 5.54, p = .007 (p < .05). The findings, indicate that the learners autonomy level increased after attending vocabulary course enhanced by CALL.
