Abstract:

Adsorption is the adhesion of atoms, ions, or molecules from a gas or liquid to a surface of adsorbent. This process creates a film of the adsorbate on the surface of the adsorbent. Similar to surface tension, adsorption is a consequence of surface energy. Adsorption has applications and advantages in oil industry, for example porosity measurement and obtaining figure of porous media. In adsorption procedure we determine average surface area that is occupied by one molecule and determining average thickness of one molecule of adsorbate that obtains total surface area of porous media. The best adsorbates are gases that have small molecules. Calculating porosity by adsorption process is easy to do and is not costly. In this Study all methods used for measurement of adsorption of chemicals on surface of porous media are reviewed. This study will present the best methods of adsorption process in terms of experimental work. It finds that for working on micropores we should consider any detail such as volume of adsorbate layer to reach absolute adsorption.
