Abstract:

In this study, the author attempts to identify the existing damage of two actual buildings based on Forced Vibration Test (FVT). First a nine-story reinforced concrete (RC) building is investigated using the vibration data obtained before and after its seismic retrofit works; then an intentionally damaged four-story RC building is investigated. System identification techniques are performed and the damage states of both buildings are investigated using the dynamically measured flexibility method and the results are discussed. It is shown that the dynamically measured flexibility can be used to evaluate the damage location of actual building.
