Abstract:

Ionizing radiation may be promising for the treatment of textile dye waste effluents, because the effect of radiation can be intensified in aqueous solution. In spite of that Some of insoluble dyes used in the textile industries such as disperse dyes are recalcitrant and non degradable, therefore, effective treatment of dye waste has been achieved by combination of some methods. In this study Electron Beam radiation (EB) and ElectroCoagulation (EC) with aluminum sacrificial anode was used. The aim of this research was to study the feasibility of EC and EB radiation to decolorize and removal of the SBB Dianix Blue dispersive dye in aqueous solution. The effects of operating parameters such as current density and operating time on the decolorization efficiencies have been investigated. The results showed that after 40min of EC process time with a 0.02A current the decolorization was 98% whereas by combination of both EC and EB processes, decolorization was completed with 5 kGy dose after 20min.
