Abstract:

Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-۱۹), caused by SARS-COV۲, represents the causative agent of a potentially fatal disease that is of great global public health concern. We are going to clarify the importance of nutritional status in immune system function and then management of this viral infection.Method: We searched “Pub Med” and “Science Direct” by using "COVID-۱۹" and "Nutrition" for searching the studies aiming the role of nutrition in immune system strength and function in COVID-۱۹ control.Results: According to the recent evaluations the occurrence of early death and the period from the onset of COVID-۱۹ symptoms to death is dependent on the status of the patient's immune system. Weak immune system permits faster progression of viral infection. So, a well-functioning immune system is critical for surveillance. Adequate and appropriate nutrition is required for cells in the immune system to function optimally. Moreover; an activated immune system further increases the demand for energy. Optimal nutrition for the best immunological outcomes would be nutrition with adequate energy and certain nutrients affect directly or indirectly immune system’s function.Conclusions: Ongoing letter is going to make a better understanding of the role of diet and nutrients in immune function and the use of well-studied nutrients, vital for immune system function, to survive the coronavirus in infected patience.
