Abstract:

Due to the viscoelastic nature of the polymeric composite materials, a considerable selftemperature rise occurs in these materials during the fatigue loading. This viscoelastic behavior causes the material to absorb a part of the applied energy and dissipate this absorbed energy in the form of the temperature rise. In the present study, this phenomenon was assessed experimentally on the angle-ply, [+۴۵/-۴۵]۴s, Carbon/Epoxy composite specimens at three different load levels under cyclic loading by using an infrared thermography camera. Then, the affecting parameters on the self-temperature rise phenomenon were discussed. Finally, it was determined that the load-level has an influence not only on the magnitude of the final temperature but also on the temperature evolution trend.
