Abstract:

Hybrid power systems are technically suitable for providing continuous and quality power to remotelylocated dwellings and have the potential of reducing the greenhouse gases emissions. In the present study,Modified Gray Wolf Optimization (MGWO) algorithm is proposed for solving the optimal sizing and costeffectiveconfiguration of a hybrid PV/Wind/Battrey/Diesel energy system, which is employed in off-gridsystem. The decision variables of this problem consist of number of PV panels, wind turbines, and batteriesare optimized by use of MGWO algorithm for having a cost-effective hybrid system. This strategy uses theminimum cost of energy as the basis for optimum system selection. Local load, wind speed, and solarradiation data along with technical and financial input of wind turbines, solar photovoltaic panels, dieselgenerators, inverters, and fuel are considered in the simulation. Simulation results in Matlab software showthat effectiveness of the proposed scheme in minimization of generating cost and optimal sizing.
