Abstract:
It is economically viable to supply power to a load several kilometers from the main power lines through a grid-independent wind turbine. In this paper, network-independent wind turbine system was investigated as a suitable solution for power supply to remote areas. The types of common structures for such a system were investigated and a special arrangement to improve the efficiency of the system was proposed and its different operating modes were investigated. This system is simulated in PSIM environment and its optimal performance has been confirmed. At the beginning of the article, an introduction to wind turbines and the challenges of using it is stated. Then the various system configurations are included, which include the simplest arrangement, the wind turbine system with the battery, and the new arrangement. In the next section, the different operating modes of the optimal system, which are bypass mode, buck -boost mode, battery operation mode alone, operating mode with wasting load and interaction of system components are stated. Then the study of simulation results in the mentioned modes is given. The conclusion of the article is given at the end.
