Abstract:
The most heat loss in the buildings occurs through the façades especially in cold and windy areas and it can be reduced by installing nonconductive blades to avoid direct collision of the air stream to the surface. Therefore, an experimental and numerical investigation have been carried out to study a steady-state, turbulent, two-dimensional force convection in order to investigate the effect of utilizing number of inclined nonconductive blades on heat loss reduction from surfaces. Experimental results indicated a considerable heat loss reduction from the surface when nonconductive blades are utilized. Different turbulent models such as SST and Standard k-ω and RNG k-ε were tested and compared with experimental results, turbulent model of Standard k-ω had the best agreement. Effect of blades inclination angle is investigated and it is found that the optimum blade inclination angle is ۳۰°, which has in average ۲۱ percent better performance compared to other inclination angles.
