Abstract:

Background and Aim: Time is a main determinant factor in specifying survival chance oftrauma patients. So, the study has been performed to the aim of determining effect of exercise programs related to management of trauma patients on time indices of pre-hospital emergency missions.Materials AndMethods: In a controlled field trail, ۶۰ pre-hospital emergency technicians have been divided into two test and control groups, through stratified random sampling. Pre-Hospital Trauma Management Training Program formulated based on available national and global standards have been implemented, through a combination of training lecture and simulation methods in test group. Research tools have been demographic questionnaire and standard pre-hospital emergency care reporting form. Mean of time indices obtained from before, after, and one month after intervention in both groups have been extracted. Data have been collected through SPSS ۱۹, independent t-test, repeated measures of variance analysis, and Bonferroni’s follow up test. Results: Mean of scene time in test group (one month after intervention) has been significantly lower than that of control group (p=۰.۰۵). Also, standard mean and deviation of scene time in test group has been reduced from ۱۷.۶±۵.۵ minutes(before intervention) to ۱۲±۳.۸ minutes(one month after intervention). This was a significant reduction (p˂۰.۰۰۱), from statistical point of view. Conclusion: According to the results, implementing exercise program of trauma management can lead to reduction of scene time of pre-hospital emergency missions. Therefore, considering the role of reducing thescene time in the prognosis of trauma patients, the integration of the periodic training of the traumatic patient management program in pre-hospital emergency seems necessary.
