Abstract:
This study aims at investigating the relationship between literary translation and argumentative writing performance of Iranian EFL advanced students. Subject selection in this study was done according to proficiency level of the participants. The samples of the study were selected out of the population of ۹۵ junior and senior translation students of Speaking House Institution. Based on the scores of the placement test, ۶۰ students including ۳۴ female and ۲۶ male advanced translation students were identified. The age range was between ۲۱ to ۲۵ years old. Advanced translation students participated in the study in which quantitative analyses were used to gain the overall results and conclusions. Students were randomly divided into control and experimental groups. The control group did not receive explicit instruction related to elements and procedure of argumentative writing; and continued their study as before while the experiment group received the required trainings and education in ۸ sessions. The results revealed a significant relationship between literary translation and argumentative writing performance of Iranian advanced EFL students.
