Abstract:
In recent years, the use of literature and literary materials in academic settings has gained prominence. Its analysis, interpretation, and criticism have all been tried out in different ways. Carter and Long's The Personal Growth Model (۱۹۹۱), a culturally oriented model for teaching literature, has tried to deal with the revelation of information and manifestation of characteristics that lead to cultural conceptualization projection. This paper has dealt with the application of this model to the academic students' syllabus in order to monitor their cultural conceptualization and identify any gender differences in their performances, using a qualitative design approach. The findings of the data analysis revealed the development of cultural conceptualization in the minds of the learners, to different degrees depending on the type of the strategies to which they were exposed, as well as some important differences between male and female learners
