Abstract:
Helical pile foundation systems have been widely utilized in engineering applications without any limitations to implement in marine situations. Helical pile foundations are extensively adapted to resist the compression, uplift force, overturning moment and lateral forces. Helical piles have been used in several engineering applications for decades. In particular, helical piles are selected for resisting large uplifting forces associated with transmission towers, guyed towers, utility poles, aircraft moorings, and submerged pipelines. They can also present structural support for excavations, tunnels. and hydraulic structures. This paper has focused on the literature related to behavioral researches on helical piles under tension, compression, installation torque models and the parameters affecting the installation torque and design parameters that influence the ultimate axial and uplift capacity of the helical pile.
