Abstract:

Herein, the bismuth-rich bismuth oxybromide (Bi۲۴O۳۱Br۱۰) nanosheets was synthesized by a auto-combustion method and plasmonic silver oxide (Ag-Ag۲O) as narrow-band gap nanophotocatalyst was synthesized by a facile precipitation and their performance was compared in the degradation of ۲۰ mg/L acid orange ۷ (AO۷) over ۱ g/L photocatalyst and solution pH. The mentioned nanophotocatalyts were characterized by XRD and FESEM analyses. The consequences obtained from XRD demonstrated that the samples were fabricated well. The FESEM results also exhibited the nanosheet morphology for Bi۲۴O۳۱Br۱۰ and large spherical particles for Ag-Ag۲O. Moreover, the results of reactor tests exhibited that after ۱۲۰ min simulated sunlight irradiation, the degradation percentage of AO۷ over the Ag-Ag۲O particles and Bi۲۴O۳۱Br۱۰ nanosheets was ۹۴.۰% and ۲۷.۲%, respectively. The high activity of the Ag-Ag۲O nanophotocatalyst could be devoted to its suitable bandgap, high activity in the solar light region originating from the high absorption light, which could lead to the increase of excitons (electron-hole pairs), and the plasmonic effect of Ag particles.
