Abstract:

The textile industry is one of the most common industries in the world with hazardous industrial wastewater, Saratale et al.)۲۰۱۱). These effluents mainly contain suspended solids, chlorides, nitrates, metals such as manganese, sodium, lead, copper, chromium, iron and high amounts of BOD and COD, Pal (۲۰۱۷), Tüfekci et al. (۲۰۰۷). If these substances are discharged into rivers due to their color content, they will disrupt photosynthesis, Sana Khan and Abdul Malik (۲۰۱۳) and threaten the life of aquatic animals and the health of millions of people. Some chemicals in the textile and dyeing industry effluents are non-degradable and their accumulation in the environment and water systems is dangerous, Connor (۲۰۱۷). While it can be treated naturally and protect groundwater resources via re-circulating in the nature. In this regard, water management system through wastewater recovery is being implemented in many countries, Angelakis and Durham (۲۰۰۸). With the growth potential of microalgae in wastewater, the environmental challenge posed by industrial and municipal wastewater can be turned into an optimal, efficient and cost-effective potential for water recovery and energyproduction. In this study the pollutant removal potential from textile effluents consisting of hazardous contaminants are investigated using the biological capacity of algae.
