Abstract:

The majority of the airfoils in use on horizontal-axis wind turbines today were originally developed for airplanes. Wind energy is one of the most reliable sources of renewable energy and wind turbine is the most common technology used to utilize wind energy. The airfoils of a turbine are the most important part of a wind turbine, which play the main role in capturing wind power and transmitting it to the turbine shaft. Due to the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil in turbine operation, the aerodynamic parameters of the NACA ۴۴۱۲ and NREL S۸۰۹ airfoils and the ۲D model are available in each models with different angles of attack (۰ and ۲ degrees). Also k-ω model is used. Grid generation and solution of the Navier-Stokes equations are completed using computer program Fluent.
