Abstract:
This study examines the effect of storytelling in traditional classes on oral language of Englishforeign language (EFL) students. To this end, twenty English students aged ۱۵ to ۲۰ took partin the research. Before the research, they were interviewed by an instructor. The selectedparticipants were assigned randomly into one group of experimental (n=۲۰). The instructortaught two stories to participants in the face to face class. The participants of the experimentalgroup were supposed to summarize the retold stories. After the treatment, an instructorsinterviewed all the participants. The results of the comparison of the first and the secondinterview confirmed the positive effect of storytelling and answering the questions in the faceto face class. The findings of this study may help the learners to improve their Englishspeaking skills.
