Abstract:
The concepts of sustainable development have been one of the most important studies of researchers in the past decades. The closeness of the definitions of sustainable development with sustainable urban development has often led to a lack of attention to the difference between the two. Important indicators of sustainable urban development are climatic, economic, and social concepts. Attention to vulnerable groups of society, including the elderly and children is one of the most important factors of social justice and social sustainability in sustainable urban development. At the same time, the emphasis on green space in cities increases social sustainability and increases the livability of cities. In this study, the researcher intends to study the role of green space to increase the quality of life in vulnerable groups, using library studies and field methods. For this purpose, first, the concept of green space in cities is defined and the types of green space are categorized, and then the concept of sustainable urban development and its important indicators are examined. Finally, the study of the role of green space for the elderly and children and providing suggestions for improvingthe efficiency of urban green spaces will be the result of research.
