Abstract:
Abstract
Aim: This three-year longitudinal study was designed to assess the effectiveness of Superbrain Yoga on the academic performance of adolescents and to find the gender difference in the academic performance of long-term SBY practice among adolescents.
Method: Repeated measure design using purposive sampling was adopted and ۳۲۴ adolescent boys and girls practicing Superbrain Yoga for three years from Mysuru District, India were involved in the study. Academic scores of adolescents from the year ۲۰۱۳-۱۴ to ۲۰۱۵-۱۶ were analysed using Repeated Measure ANOVA.
Findings: A significant increase in academic scores of adolescents in their performance(F=۱۶۸.۳۲۴, p= .۰۰۱) were noticed. Girls outperformed boys in Science (F= ۵.۲۶۳, p=.۰۰۶, ηp۲=.۰۲), second language (F= ۵.۸۳۲, p=.۰۰۴, ηp۲=.۰۲), and total performance (F= ۴.۵۳۴, p=.۰۱۴, ηp۲=.۰۲) with a minimal effect size.
Conclusion The long-term practice of Superbrain Yoga showed a positive impact on academic performance among adolescents and the gender difference on academic performance found minimal. The cognitive enhancement practice of SBY can be implemented in educational settings.
