Abstract:

Pulmonary valve replacement has been widely performed worldwide, especially for patients with a history of tetralogy of childhood correction, and the goal of surgery is to improve the overall health of these patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of life of patients with these two types of valves. To our knowledge, no such comparison has been made so far. Methods:In this case-control study, ۲۳ patients were in the biological group and ۴۲ patients in the mechanical group. The quality of life questionnaire was filled out and collected among these patients and finally analyzed by SPSS۲۲ software. Results: In the present study, stress echocardiography was performed in ۴۸ patients (۲۰ biological groups, ۲۸ mechanical groups). TRG, maximum pulmonary slope, mean pulmonary gradient before echocardiographic stress were significantly different between the two groups (P <۰.۰۵). General physical and mental health was not significantly different between the two groups, but men had better scales in terms of physical performance (۰.۰۵). ۰> P). Discuss:Due to the same hemodynamic effect of both valves on the cardiovascular system, the low quality of life of women with mechanical valves, proven durability of biological valves in older children and adults, we re-evaluate the criteria for selecting valves in our country. It should be noted that biological valves still take precedence over mechanical valves.
