Abstract:

The present study aims mainly, to explore the impact of comic novels on vocabulary building and rate of motivation among Iranian intermediate EFL learners. Having administered a test of reading proficiency, ۶۰ EFL learners were selected from a state high school and were selected into control and experimental groups. Also, two English language teachers, based on TOEFL and Humor questionnaire, were assigned to teach these learners and asked them to evaluate the use of humor in their classrooms. Finally based on the data, it was found that teaching vocabulary based on humorous texts was effective in improving learners' vocabulary ability and enhancing their rate of motivation.
