Efficient Synthesis of Bis(۳-Methylphenyl)Sulfoxide Aza Macrocycles from a Bis(۳-Methylphenyl)Sulfoxide Diester and Diamine Derivatives

Some bis(۳-methylphenyl)sulfoxide aza macrocycles (۳–۸) were synthesized in high yields based on the conventional methods of the reaction of corresponding bis(۳-methylphenyl)sulfoxide diester and diamines in refluxing methanol. Bis(۳-methylphenyl)sulfoxide diester was synthesized from the reaction of ۲-[(۲-hydroxy-۵-methylphenyl)sulfinyl]-۴-methylphenol and methyl chloroacetate. The structures of these compounds were confirmed using IR, ۱H NMR, ۱۳C NMR and Mass spectroscopy.
