Abstract:

General skills in human life act as a lever and facilitate many things in one's life. One of the most important aspects of any person's life is to improve their general abilities. Some skills such as driving skills, social skills, self-management skills and problem solving skills are among the general skills in each person's life. Improving job skills improves a person's quality of life. Learning English is another common and widely used skill in people's lives. The use of English in one's personal life can be as simple as working with a mobile or computer menu, or as complex as studying English texts. Simply put: If you know something, you will become more professional with it in English. If you do not know, you can learn it with the help of English and the Internet! Objective: To investigate the possibility of auditory learning during sleep and also to investigate possible gender differences in this area. Method: The statistical population of this study consisted of students of psychology and educational sciences at the Islamic Azad University of Garmsar in the academic year ۲۰۰۱-۲۰۱۰. The research tool was a questionnaire containing English language questions which were prepared in the form of four-choice questions and translation from the taught materials. The validity of the questionnaire was assessed using content validity. In order to accustom the subjects to listening to the lessons while sleeping, the research was conducted experimentally for one week. Data were analyzed using t-test. Results: The results showed that auditory learning of English during sleep is not possible. Conclusion: Considering the limitations of the study, the results showed that learning does not take place during sleep and this method leads to problems such as insomnia, headache, earache, impatience and drowsiness during the day.
