Abstract:
U-Section Rolling, is a process that is used worldwide and the use of the process increases every year. However, the understanding of the rolling process is limited and so is the science about the process. Thereason for this is that the complex geometry of the process has made it difficult to develop simple modelsfor how the work piece will be formed. Only a few analytical models for the blank deformation arefound in the literature. Another approach to investigate the deformation in the work piece is to use FEanalyses. Very little has been published about FE analyses of U-section rolling process. This may bedue to the fact that the simulations are still very time consuming. In this paper, ۳D model of U-sectionrolling process has been simulated by finite element method to study the Deformation of blank,Distribution of stress, Shear and Mises stress contours, Distribution of spatial displacement contoursand Contour of equivalent plastic strain in a U-section rolling process. All studies presented in this paperhave been carried out on aluminum alloy EN AW-۷۱۰۸ T۶.
