Abstract:

Background and Aim : Klebsiella pneumoniae is the cause of many infectious diseases such asblood infection, wound, pneumonia and meningitis. Improper use of antibiotics and newmechanisms used by bacteria to survive have caused antibiotic resistance and made treatmentdifficult. Studies have shown that one of the most important mechanisms of antibiotic resistanceis the expression of efflux pump in bacteria. Efflux pumps are one of the most importantmechanisms of antibiotic resistance. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence ofAcrAB efflux pump gene in infectious Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from clinical samples in thecity of Zahedan. Methods : In this study, DNA extraction was performed by Boiling method from ۹۶ Klebsiellapneumoniae urinary isolates. The presence of AcrAB efflux pump gene was checked by using PCRmethod. Results : The results showed the presence of AcrAB efflux pump gene in ۹۷.۹۱% of the isolates. Conclusion : Suppression of AcrAB efflux pump gene may be useful in the treatment and controlof Klebsiella pneumoniae infections.
