Abstract:
The copper nanoparticles grafted on carbon microsphere (Cu-NP/C) catalyst was used to create a convenient and efficient synthesis of ۳-(۱H-benzo(d)imidazole-۲-yithio) methyl-۲-chloroquinoline (۴a-f) from ۲-Chloroquinoline-۳-carbaldehyde (۱a-f) and ۱H-benzo[d]imidazole-۲-thiol (Scheme-۱, Table-۲). The synthesis was placed under mild reaction conditions, resulting in a excellent yield (۹۲-۹۷%, Table-۲) of the appropriate compounds. The prepared compounds were characterized by H۱NMR, IR, and Mass spectroscopy. These synthesized compounds were studied for antituberculosis activities (Table-۳, ۴a-f) against standard drug isoniazid and rifampicin and show moderate activity. To explain the experimentally discovered affinity for ۳-((۱H-benzo[d]imidazol-۲-ylthio)methyl)-۲-chloroquinoline derivatives, molecular docking studies were conducted. A molecular docking study reveals the ۴e and ۴f derivatives of ۳-((۱H-benzo[d]imidazol-۲-ylthio)methyl)-۲-chloroquinoline to be the most active ones.
