Animacy in Persian language: Animacy norms for ۴۰۱ Persian words

Words are the main components of meaning in spoken and written language. Animacy is one of the words’ attributes which is referred to the distinction between animate and inanimate stimuli, and it has an important influence on the perception of words. The main aim of the present study was to provide an animacy norm for Persian words. To follow this purpose, ۴۰۱ words from Warriner et al. [۱], were selected and translated into Persian. Participants (n=۲۲۹) rated the words’ animacy via a ۵-point Likert scale. Split-half reliability of ۰.۹۷ (p<۰.۰۰۱), between two halves of participants, is observed.
