Architecture appeared due to human need for shelter and quickly became a basic expression and interpretation of technical and social skills. In the ancient land of Iran, local buildings were built by the people and architects, according to the culture, climate and local materials of a particular region. Generally, in architecture literature, researchers argue that many factors influence the type of architecture. One of the most important factors is the effect of the climate type on the type of architecture, as its effect can be seen in all the urban structure and even individual buildings and interior architectural elements of the spaces. In Iran, the architecture of buildings and cities in a hot and arid climate is one of the most obvious and specific manifestations of the influence of climate on the formation of cities and buildings, and the most beautiful and artistic designs of Iran can be seen in the vast area of this climate. The purpose of this article is to investigate the influence of climatic factors on construction and local architecture in hot and arid regions by a special focus on Kashan city. The Mess house, which is one of the important buildings of this city, has been selected for a case study.
