Stem cell therapy a novel strategy for ovarian cancer treatment support

Ovarian cancer (OC) is one of the most lethal malignancies in women. Due to the lack of specific symptoms and screening methods, the disease is usually diagnosed only in the advanced and metastatic stage. Standard treatment for patients with OC includes surgery with chemotherapy. Most patients show complete clinical recovery after treatment, but in some cases the disease relapses and develops tumors that are resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Therefore, knowledge of molecular biology and the mechanisms involved in resistance to chemotherapy are important for improving the survival of ovarian cancer patients. Among them, stem cells are able to repair the damaged area in ovarian tissue due to their high proliferative property.
