Abstract:

Today, one of the main concerns of mankind about nuclear reactors is the issue of waste from nuclear materials, which is increasing dramatically. These wastes have very high radiation poisoning and are dangerous for humans and other creatures. Also, some elements in these wastes have very long half-lives of hundreds of thousands of years or more. Therefore, if we bury these wastes directly without any changes, their harmful effects will certainly affect humans and their living environment for many years. Therefore, it is necessary to make changes in the structure of these elements before burying them into less dangerous elements with a low half-life.To solve this problem, solutions have been proposed, one of these solutions is the use of a new generation of nuclear reactors called ADS, in order to convert these wastes, which has been significantly welcomed by different countries. Currently, the design, construction and development of this type of reactors are being widely carried out in some countries. In this research, this new generation of nuclear reactors is introduced and its different parts, how it works, its applications and its important advantage over today's reactors, i.e. its safety, are explained.
