Four Decades of Spatial (re)Structuring Factors in Urbanization Based On Case Studies

Urban planning area is an important public policy of the government and a toolkit forgrowth of countries, in this regard Iran has long been known for its cities. Howeverinvestigation on internal trends of urban growth are neglected. Aim of this study is toprovide an overview of internal dynamics of urbanization process. For this, internaldynamics and potentials of Spatial (re)structuring in urbanization process will beinvestigated by utilizing scientific method on the case studies from Iran’s major cities.Based on an in-depth literature review of different typical areas four cities selected indifferent constituencies and respected influential patterns on Spatial (re)structuringchange in previous decades investigated. Land use and land cover patterns, as well associo-demographic, geographical, and density changes in the research areas, are allfactors. In terms of internal dynamics for spatial (re)structuring over the previous fourdecades, the obtained data show a declining tendency in Shiraz and Tehran cities, a stableincrease and rapid drop in Tabriz city, and a fluctuation in Isfahan city.
