Legal issues, Professional liability and potential risks associated with Telemedicine abstract

Telemedicine is the use of telecommunications technology to overcome geographic distances. It is still so new and there are no sure answers to what liabilities may coincide with its use. For example: what are the standards of using Telemedicine? How can we license physicians as a telehealth provider? Can we get informed consent while performing telehealth? Although many countries have started to initiate, produce and implement law articles about telemedicine and clarifying some legal issues related to the use of technology in health, but telemedicine laws are still in the formative stage because we can’t use the traditional medico-legal issues for telemedicine activities. We suggest a professional committee in ministry of health should take responsibility for production and implementation of rules and laws about telemedicine before this issue get complicated and harming our patients’ safety
