Abstract:

In this research, the effect of particle characteristics and hydrodynamic conditions on the flotation efficiency of the quartz and talc particles was investigated using bubble-particle interactions. The bubble-particle collision, attachment and detachment efficiency were calculated for the quartz and talc particles. The flotation rate constant was increased with increasing of the collision efficiency and decreasing of the detachment efficiency. The flotation rate constant was increased with increasing of the bubble surface area flux (Sb) and decreasing of the particle size. The maximum flotation rate constant of the quartz particles was obtained as ۱.۴۳ ۱/min, when particle size, impeller speed and Sb were -۳۷ µm, ۱۰۰۰ rpm and ۲۴.۳۱ ۱/s, respectively. Also, the maximum flotation rate constant of talc particles was obtained as ۱.۳۸ ۱/min, when the particle size, the impeller speed and the Sb were -۵۳+۳۷ µm, ۱۱۰۰ rpm and ۱۹.۰۸ ۱/s, respectively.
