Abstract:
The environment is one of the main assets of human society and its protection against dangerous radiation is part of the duty of low-level radioactive waste landfills. The purpose of this research is to investigate the improvement of the absorption properties of gamma rays emitted from radioactive waste burial centers by the combination of bentonite and black soil of Najafabad. These centers are under the ground and in order to manage the gamma rays caused by these materials, a clay cover is used around the landfill. In this research, the samples are compacted in cylindrical molds with a fixed diameter of ۳.۶ cm and a height of ۲, ۴ and ۶ cm under the dry maximum specific gravity and placed in three energy levels of ۶۶۲, ۱۱۷۳ and ۱۳۳۲ KeV by the Nal (Tl) detector. The results show that as the additive increases, the linear attenuation coefficient increases, as well as with the increase in specific gravity, the linear attenuation coefficient increases.
