Abstract:
Healthy growth and development of young children and infants is of great importance.Child malnutrition has short-term and long-term consequences for society and individuals. Previous studies show probiotics are commonly prescribed to promote a healthy gut microbiome in children and may promote child growth and have an impact on under-nutrition. Therefore, this systematic evaluation has grown to be done at the effects of probiotics on child growth.A systematic review was carried out in ۲۰۲۲. In this systematic study, the required data were collected from three databases including: SID, PubMed. Google Scholar from ۲۰۰۰ to november ۲۰۲۲.Fourteen studies from ۱۱۹۶ published articles were included in the review of which ۱۱were randomized controlled trials. A total of ۲۲۷۲ children were included. The studies varied in quantity and type of probiotics given, participants' characteristics, interventions duration, setting and units of outcome measures. Overall, ۸ studies support children growth. No significant effect on growth was found in preterm infants. The limited evidence suggests that probiotics have the potential to improve child growth invery low-birthweight (VLBW) preterm infants. More research is needed to explore this further
