Abstract:
This paper proposes a new approach for transient stability assessment of power system with highpenetration of doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind farms. The purpose is to have thelowest computational load and the highest accuracy and speed and to be suitable for real-timeapplications. The main idea is transient instability detection without directly calculating the TransientEnergy Function (TEF). The proposed method numerically determines the transient stability margin of thepower system using Trajectory Sensitivity Analysis (TSA) of the relative rotor angles of the synchronousmachines as regards to fault clearing time. The TSA will be applied to investigate the impact of theincreased penetration of DFIG-based wind power, changing the operating conditions, and different faultlocation. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach for choosing the bestintegration scenario of wind farms into power systems.
