Learning Vocabulary: Challenges and Strategies

Vocabulary learning is an essential part in foreign language learning as the meanings of new wordsare very often emphasized, whether in books or in classrooms. It is also central to language teachingand is of paramount importance to a language learner. Recent research indicate that teachingvocabulary may be problematic because many teachers are not confident about best practice invocabulary teaching and at times don‟t know where to begin to form an instructional emphasis onword learning. In this article, different challenges will be illustrated in order to clarify thedifficulties which learners may face. Strategies to learn vocabulary more practical is another partwhich will be explained in the study.
