Abstract:

ThepresentstudyaimedtoinvestigateprofessionalsuccessamongIranianEFLteachersintwodifferentteachingcontextsnamelyhighschoolsandlaguageinstitutesconcerningtheiryearsofteachingexperience,gender,levelofeducationandsocioeconomicstatus.Dataweregatheredfromamong۶۱teachersand۶۰۰studentschosenfromvariousprivateEnglishlanguageinstitutesandhighschoolsinShiraz,Iran.TheinstrumentusedinthestudywasaquestionnairedevelopedbyMoafianandPishghadam(۲۰۰۹).Resultsindicatedthatprofessionalsuccessofmaleteachersishigherthanthatoffemaleteachers.Find-ingsfurtherillustratedthatthereisasignificantpositiverelationshipbetweenEnglishteachers’professionalsuccessandtheireducationlevlandsocioeconomicstatus.Finally,itwasfoundthatEnglishteachers’professionalsuccessishigheramonginstituteteacherscomparedwiththeircounterparts.
