A novel membrane electrode for iodide ion and its application to pharmaceutical samples abstract
Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) membrane electrodes were synthesized, i.e. imidazolidine-2tion (IMT),and incorporated into graphite electrode surfaces to carry iodide selective electrodes based on themembrane ingredients. There were several factors that affected the electrode's response, includingpH, membrane arrangement, and possibly intervening anions. The sensor displayed Nernstianresponses to iodide across a concentration of 1× 10-6 to 0.1 M with slopes of 57.8± 0.7 mV periodide concentration decade and 7 × 10-7M detection limit, across a pH range of 3.0-10.5. In aminimum of two months, the sensor response time was 6 seconds with no significant divergencefrom the expected response. It has been successfully used to determine the concentration of iodidewithin synthetic pharmaceutical samples and for precipitation titrations as well.
