Abstract:

Recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries is important due to the increase in demand for critical metals, adverse environmental repercussions, and solid waste disposal. Lithium-ion battery technology has become the dominant energy storage for many applications such as electric cars, laptops, mobile phones, etc. By the increasing their waste, reviving the used elements such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and aluminum and... is indispensable. The batteries were dismantled, the cathode and anodes separated, shredded and subsequently subjected to heat treatment at ۴۰۰ and ۲۰۰℃ respectively, to obtain the active materials from the cathode and graphite from the anode Cathode powder was reduced by the anode graphite at the active materials were obtained. Carbon with a certain amount of cathode powder was mixed at ۹۰۰℃ and ۲ hours. After thermal reduction, Ni and Co were reduced to metallic form, Mn was reduced to MnO, and Li formed water-soluble Li۲O Therefore, lithium was preferentially recovered by water-leaching with a recovery rate of ۸۰% or more.
