Abstract:
In this research, chitosan-functionalized magnetic Fe۳O۴ nanoparticles (MCS) were chemically synthesized. Due to their magnetic feature and sensitivity to pH, MCS was used as a carrier for the loading and targeted release of the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). The MCS was then characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The drug release rate from DOX-loaded MCS was measured at pH = ۷.۴ (blood) and pH = ۵.۶ (cancer cells). The results showed that this approach has the potential to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy.
