Abstract:
This review explores the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to promote sustainability in the construction industry and foster a circular economy (CE). The combination of BIM and LCA enables early design optimization, collaboration among stakeholders, and cost/resource optimization over a building's life cycle. The integration of CE principles with BIM and LCA offers additional opportunities for sustainable construction practices, including material reuse anddeconstruction planning. However, challenges such as data availability and interoperability need to be addressed for seamless integration. Improved data, automation, and interoperability are crucial for accurate sustainability assessments in early design stages.
