Investigating the Inter Language and the Intra Language Errors in the EFL MA Theses of Ilam Azad University

This research investigates the reflection of errors committed by college students of Ilam Azad University in their theses to find out, whether the cause of committed errors is interference of students mother tongue which is called inter language error or it is the influence and complexity of the target language which is referred to under the title of intra language errors. In the current study Error Analysis was used as a method to distinguish the errors in the written thesis. It took over the identification, description, categorization, and explanation of the errors identified in the written theses.In accordance with the results of the present research, findings revealed the overt influence of students' mother tongue. It meant target language played a bit role among committed errors of the students, and L۱ was the major and serious affair in the study and it proved the superiority of inter language errors over intra language errors.
