Abstract:
Since indole is a very significant nitrogenous aromatic compound in oil, medicines, and dyes, the present study aims at studying the Synthesis of Copper Oxide - Cobalt Ferrite as a magnetic photocatalyst and its comparison with pure copper oxide. This is an interventional study. The spherical and polyhedral copper particles were synthesized using the co-precipitation method. Also, the octahedral copper particles were characterized through hydrothermal synthesis and using SEM, XRD, BET, and BJH methodologies. In addition, the Cobalt Ferrite particles were synthesized and characterized through VSM, XRD, and SEM methods. The photocatalysts synthesized in a discontinuous UVC-irradiated photoreactor were then used to denitrify the indole organic compound. Then the removal rate was investigated using the uv-vis and GC-MASS spectrophotometer apparatus. The results indicated that the best removal rate in the spherical, octahedral, and polyhedral morphologies were ۷۴.۰۵, ۴۸.۴۳, and ۸۰.۹۸%, respectively. The best removal rate in the cobalt ferrite, spherical copper oxide, octahedral, and polyhedral core-shell structures were ۸۶.۵۰, ۵۵.۶۷, and ۹۱.۲۴%, respectively.
