Abstract:
In the present paper, the capability of LECA (light expanded clay aggregate) to remove Copper ion from aqueous solution was investigated in batch system using response surface methodology (RSM). The various effective parameters on adsorption efficiency such as initial pH, temperature, the initial copper concentration, and sorbent dosage was selected at three levels to evaluate copper adsorption capacity and to find the optimum conditions. The copper uptake in the optimum condition was obtained 100.111(mg/g). This paper suggests LECA as a low-cost, efficient, environment-friendly, and entirely natural sorbent can be used for metal ion removal.
