Abstract:
In this study, for the first time to our knowledge, a new design of transparent wood (TW) based surface plasmon resonance sensor having two-dimensional (۲D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) is simulated and analytically studied by a finite element method via COMSOL multiphysics for the crude oil detection with refractive indices ranging from ۱.۴۴۶۸ to ۱.۴۹۸۸۶۰. The proposed TW SPR sensor is comprised of highly transparent polymer, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), infiltrated into the nano sized wood cellulose channels with silver nano disks-TMDCs (MoS۲ and WS۲). The simulation results exhibit that the proposed transparent wood-based SPR sensor with monolayer MoS ۲ configuration has better average sensitivity of ۱۷۹.۶۹ deg/RIU as compared to monolayer WS۲ which is ۱۲۷.۷۱ deg/RIU. This study is proposing a new way for the development of highly sensitive ۲D material-based organic SPR sensor in the field of optical sensing with transparent wood nanostructures.
