Abstract:

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is an organic compound produced by certain types of bacteria. In natural habitats, most bacteria synthesize extracellular polysaccharides such as cellulose that form protective coatings around cells. Currently, many methods are being investigated to increase the growth of cellulose. Different celluloses produced by different bacteria have different morphology, structure, properties and applications. However, the literature lacks a comprehensive review of different BC production methods, which are critical for BC properties and their end applications. The objectives of this review are to provide an overview of BC production by bioreactor culture method, analyze the characteristics of specific BC production and its applications, show the existing problems associated with different methods, and select appropriate culture approaches for BC applications in different fields. . Probably the main goals in future studies to determine the pore size, microstructure, physical and chemical properties of BC can be adjusted by changing the gene expression discussed here.
