Abstract:

Wind energy, the world’s fastest growing energy source, is a clean and renewablesource of energy that has been in use for centuries in different parts of the world.Wind turbines, both large and small, produce electricity for utilities and homeowners and remote villages. In this study, the effect of studying the number ofblades on the performance of the vertical axis wind turbines has been studied, afternumerical simulation, it was found that as the number of blades changes from ۱ to۶, the power produced by the turbine increases. The maximum power factor of theturbine occurs at a lower tip speed ratio. For the turbine with two blades as thenumber of blades increases from ۲ to ۶, the maximum power factor decreases.
