Abstract:
In the last decades, electric power system deregulation has affected generation, operation and decisions of system planners. Distribution Companies (DisCos) as the last chain of electricity delivery attempt to operate their facilities optimally and minimize the investment risk to servethe forecasted load growth of customers in their territory. In this paper a novel framework for implementing Distributed Generation sources (DGs) is introduced as an alternative expansion option in Distribution System Planning (DSP). Thus, this paper proposes integrated model for Utility and Non-Utility DGs Expansion Planning (DGEP). In addition the optimal sitting, timing and sizing of DGs with reliability consideration in distributionsystems has been implemented. A new developed optimization model is tested successfully to estimate the DG capacity investment to deliver electricity to the forecasted load profile including peak and off-peak periods with reliability consideration. The present worth analysis of various scenarios is carried out to assessment the expansion plans.
