A New Approach To Design An Optimal Overhead Transmission Lines Based Technical Cost Function abstract
This paper presents a new approach to design an optimal overhead transmission lines. The overhead transmission lines have an important in power systems. As the cost of power production is clearly high, minimum active power loss in transmission lines is necessary to consider in design ofline. Also, another issue that effect on efficiency of transmission lines is voltage drop. In this paper, to design an optimum transmission line, the technical cost function is proposed which included the active power loss, voltage drop and voltage stability margin. The voltage level, bundled conductors per phase, Geometric Mean Distance (GMD) of phases, distance between bundled conductors are considered as parameters affected on technical cost function. In proposed method, designing is investigated as an optimization problem that minimizes the objective functions by satisfying a set of constraints according to the technical cost function. Consequently, in this work, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is employed to find the optimum transmission line parameters due to minimize the technical cost function. To show the efficiency of proposed method, the PSO is applied to typical transmission lines with considering the practical conductors that used in transmission linesand the results are compared to each other
